Try playing through the game first with one of the standard configurations. What you don't always have is an archer who can make sure as many of your opponents as possible are effected by poisoned arrows. And there's usually a heavy fighter around. There are usually plenty of magic users in the party already, one of whom can specialize in buffing. There generally aren't enough points to go around, and creating a fighter who is not as good as he should be at fighting because he's not as good as he should be at casting spells is certainly possible but probably not a very good idea. If that's your mentality, by all means build a mixed-class character and be sure to let us know how many chapters he survives.īlackguards runs on its own logic and is very unforgiving when it comes to importing ideas from outside the game system for what should go into a character. I used to play Darklands by building a party of runaway nuns fresh from the convent, turning them loose in medieval Germany, and waiting to see how long they would survive. If you're really into the game you'll just develop a character any way you want, throw him in, and see what happens. Hopefully you'll have some advice for me. I know that's a lot to read, and if you took the time to do so I appriciate it. I want to put being a fighter first and foremost, so I'll want at least maxed out strength and agility, but which magic stats are most important, and which stats can I tank? Lastly I want to know which stats I should focus on, and which I can sacrifice for said build. Thirdly, I want to know what spells best suit such a build (is going berserk useful?, extra movement speed and actions seem like a no-brainer but I haven't played the game yet so I'm not sure). Second, I want to know if there a re magical Talents it would be worth investing in if I am to go with that hybrid build (magic point regenration and the like). First I'd like to know if it's worth while to have a fighter that can buff himself, or if I should just deligate that to other casters.

It's mostly that aspect that I need help with. That said, it also feels like a waste to ignore magic completely, so I feel like I might want to spend some points in magics to buff myself so that I may better complete the foremer task. Heavy armour, high strength, takes a lot of blows and deals a lot of damage. The character I am looking to build is your standard two-handed sword fighter. Thus I turn to you, my beloved steam community in the hopes that I can get a little advice that will help me figure out just what I need to focus on to build the character I want. I loved the first game, and Its a pretty major thing to remove from the sequel, whether you think so or not.I have been attempting to build my character for three days now, and though I love the freedom the character creator allows me, the sheer plethora of options has made it exceedingly difficulty for me to make a final decision. It needs at least that much to make it a proper RPG to me. But what we did get was enough to attach me to my characters' story and want to play it through. It is fair to say we never got the creative freedom of say a Bioware game. I could make Naurim an archer in the first game if I really wanted, but he'd still always be Naurim. Being able to shift her stats around doesnt change the fact the person behind them is unchanging. I'd always be Cassia, the crazy lady in the iron mask. In two playthroughs of this game I'd be playing the same character with the same name and the same voice. All of which was put into my hands, which allows personal investment. Name, gender, voice, abilities, conversation choices. The heroes of my two playthroughs of the first game felt completely different to me. The personality/voice of the character in the first game was set in stone either way.Įxcept it wasn't. Originally posted by timmo:that doesnt make any sense.
